- 1) Confirm the regen drive parameters are set according to FPS personnel. This is important because the default parameters don’t enable the dv/dt filter which is important to include in the ID Run. Here is a link to the parameters for the regen drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10IILYcaTJqzcJQ1WxS4UjTq6kgR6SBqh?usp=sharing.
- 2) Yaw wind turbine 90 degrees to the wind.
- 3) Apply rotor lock pin to keep wind turbine blades from moving.
- 4) Remove the coupling between the wind turbine gear box and generator. Here are instructions on how to remove the coupling: https://frontierpowersystems.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/47001109614-fps-mark-2-high-speed-couplling-removal-instructions
- 5) DANGER: PLEASE CONFIRM WITH WIND TECHNICIANS IN THE NACELLE THAT THEMSELVES, TOOLS AND CLIMBING EQUIPMENT WILL REMAIN CLEAR OF GENERATOR AND GENERATOR SHAFT AS IT CAN ROTATE DURING BOTH THE STANDSTILL ID AND ADVANCED ID RUNS!
- 6) Follow the video here to complete the “Standstill” ID Run. Stop following the video before completing the “Normal” ID Run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUD2DXP9zf8.
- 7) Confirm the regen drive is still in local control by confirming “LOC” is shown in the top left of the regen drive display.
- 8) Set the RPM reference (setpoint) of the regen drive to 1200 RPM by pushing the “Options” button and then the "Reference" button until it flashes. Use the left and right button to highlight the digit you want to change and the up and down arrows to set the RPM. Press the "Save" button to save the changes you made to the RPM Reference.
- 9) Push the green start button and let the regen drive operate at 1200 RPM for 10 minutes to warm up the generator. The ID Run process is more accurate if done with the generator warm.
- 10) After 10 minutes, set the RPM reference back to 0 RPM.
- 11) Once the turbine has stopped (reached 0 RPM), push the stop button.
- 12) Immediately after stopping, perform an “Advanced” ID Run by continuing with the ID Run video but choosing “Advanced” (scroll down to option #6) instead of “Normal” (option #1) for the ID Run requested parameter 99.13.
- 13) Confirm that the “Advanced” ID Run was completed successfully by watching the display for the “ID Run Done” indicator on the drive display.
- 14) If performed correctly, the ID Run will automatically update “User motor parameters” 98.02 through 98.05 and 98.09 through 98.12. Parameter 99.14 will also update with the last ID run type performed.
- 15) Set parameter 96.07 “Parameter save manually” to “Save” to save the newly changed parameters.
- 16) Set the regen drive back to remote control by pushing the “REM/LOC” button until “REM” shows at the top left of the display.
- 17) Push in the “Nacelle Emergency Stop” button to cut power to regen drive.
- 18) Re-install the coupling between the gear box and generator.
- 19) Pull out the “Nacelle Emergency Stop” button and reset the wind turbine.
- 20) Remove the rotor lock pin.
- 21) From nacelle, release brakes and jog generator to confirm regen drive is working.
